Locality: Native, New World. Canada- NT, YT; USA- AK.
Common Name: Vietinghoff's Worm & Slug Hunter
Synonyms: Carabus vietinghoffi Adams, 1812; Carabus stschegolewi Poppius, 1906; Carabus alaskanus Obydov, 1996
Biology:
Macrohabitat: Lowlands, 12- 500 meters altitude. Microhabitat: On shaded or open ground in forests (e.g., Populus, Betula, Picea) and in barren country. Dispersal abilities: Brachypterous, hence flightless thus vagility limited to walking or running. Seasonal occurrence: Adults have been found in May- October; teneral adults in August.
