General description:
Locality: Native, New World. Canada- AB, MB, SK; USA- MT, ND, SD, WY.
Common Name: Neat Beautiful Black Searcher
Synonyms: Calosoma lepidum LeConte, 1845
Biology:
Macrohabitat: Midlands, 1300 meters altitude, in short grass open prairies. Microhabitat: Open ground; rather dry ground covered with some vegetation, such as grasses, and in cultivated fields and along their borders (e.g. wheat). Dispersal abilites: sub-brachypterous, hence flightless thus vagility limited to walking or running. Seasonal occurrence: Adults have been found in May-September. Behavior: Unknown.
