Biology:
Macrohabitat: Lowlands, sea level – 67 meters altitude, on sea beaches and at
margins of other types of water bodies. Microhabitat: Adults are ground-dwelling on moist
sandy substrate. Dispersal abilities: Macropterous, capable of flight; slow runners, strong
burrowers. Seasonal occurrence: Adults have been found in April – August. Behavior:
Adults are nocturnal, predaceous, and take cover during the day in burrows they dig in the substrate
or under beach debris or wash-up. Adults are frequently attracted to UV lights. Adults
overwinter in the substrate.
