Biology:
Macrohabitat: Lowlands to uplands, 288 – 2138 meters altitude, on open
prairie grasslands. Microhabitat: Adults are ground-dwelling on exposed somewhat dry substrate
with sparse vegetation, some distance from water. Dispersal abilities: Macropterous,
capable of flight; slow runners, strong burrowers. Seasonal occurrence: Adults have been
found in March – October. Behavior: Adults are nocturnal, predaceous, and take cover during
the day in burrows they dig into the substrate, occasionally under drift material. Adults
overwinter in the substrate.
