Biology:
Macrohabitat: Lowlands, 26 – 400 meters altitude, on river and lagoon margins,
for example on sand bars with willow (Salix humboltiana Willd.). Microhabitat: Adults
are ground-dwelling on fine wet sand or alluvial silt overlaying clay. Dispersal abilities:
Macropterous, probably capable of flight; slow runners, strong burrowers. Seasonal occurrence:
Adults have been found in June – November. Behavior: Adults use decumbent
grasses as shelter; they run from there across wet or baked silt in the sunshine. Adults aestivate
during the dry season in the substrate.
