Locality: Native, New World. Mexico- BJ, CH, DU, SO; USA- AZ, CA, NM, TX.
Common Name: Projecting Caterpiller Hunter
Synonyms: Calosoma angulatum LeConte, 1852; Calosoma prominens LeConte, 1853
Biology:
Macrohabitat: Lowlands to Uplands, 33-2040 meters altitude, in acacia/cactus scrub. Microhabitat: Open dry ground with sparse vegetation. Dispersal abilities: Macropterous, capable of flight. Seasonal occurrence: Adults have been found in July- October. Behavior: Adults are attracted to lights (Erwin, 2001; Gidaspow, 1959; Larochelle & Lariviere, 2003; Data from NMNH, UASM collections)
