Locality: Native, New World. Mexico- CH, DU, GJ, SO, TM, VC.
Common Name: Large Beautiful Black Searcher
Synonyms: Calosoma ampliator Bates, 1891
Notes: The record from Panama in Gidaspow (1959) is doubtful (see Erwin, 1991)
Biology:
Macrohabitat: Uplands, 1,100-1420 meters altitude. Microhabitat: Likely near wet or damp areas with shrubby vegetation or small trees in Chihuahuan Desert and possibly at the margins of cultivated lands. Dispersal abilities: Macropterous, probably capable of flight. Seasonal occurrence: Unknown. Behavior: Unknown. (Erwin, 1991 & 2001; Gidaspow, 1959)
