Distribution: Native, New World. Costa Rica; Panamá.
Common name: Nevermann’s Small Pedunculate Beetle
Synonym: Scarites nevermanni Bänninger, 1939:79
Macrohabitat: Lowlands to midlands, sea level – 620 meters altitude, on margins
of small streams. Microhabitat: Adults are ground-dwelling on sandy substrates. Dispersal
abilities: Macropterous, capable of flight; slow runners, strong burrowers. Seasonal occurrence:
Adults have been found in January – July, and November. Behavior: Adults are nocturnal,
predaceous, and take cover during the day in burrows they dig in the substrate, or under surface
debris. Adults are attracted to lights. Adults aestivate during the dry season in the substrate.
