Macrohabitat: Lowlands to midlands, 15 – 1460 meters altitude, in redwood/
Douglas Fir forests (Sequoia sempervirens (D. Don) Endl. and Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirbel) Franco).
Microhabitat: Adults are ground-dwelling and occur on the upper zone of river and
brook banks at some distance from the water where the rather dry, usually silty bare substrate
is shaded by trees and shrubs, or covered with dead leaves. Dispersal abilities: Macropterous,
capable of flight; swift runners. Seasonal occurrence: Adults have been found in April
– August; teneral adults in mid-July. Behavior: Adults are diurnal, predaceous, and active in
shaded areas.
